Ernest Junction

Originally called “Southport Junction”, it was renamed “Ernest Junction” after Ernest Stevens, Member of Parliament. This was essentially a switching station rather than a true stop.

Ernest Junction: the old Ernest Junction station was, I believe, roughly where the blue X sits on the map. The change in the line’s colour on the map shows where the tunnel is – the tunnel is actually slightly curved. The track west of the tunnel is quite intact and relatively easy to navigate.
