Past St Hilda’s

There is probably information in the St Hilda’s School archives about how the school acquired the land that was previously the railway line.

Past St Hilda’s: the line runs around the contours of the hill near St Hilda’s School, which explains the staircase-style boundary of the streets in the area. One of the old railway line features still apparent today is the odd dogleg near the top of Jackman Street – the road either ended on each side of the line here, or it was a level crossing.
